Recently, Heilongjiang Communications Investment Group, Longjian Road and Bridge No. 4 Company, Sany Automobile Manufacturing Company, Harbin Expressway Investment Company and other companies jointly won the "Second Prize of Science and Technology Award of China Highway Construction Industry Association" by virtue of the "Research and Application of Key Technologies for Highway Digital Intelligence Construction" project with the research background of unmanned digital construction of Harbin Zhaozhou Expressway.

The China Highway Construction Industry Association, which is supervised by the Ministry of Transport, is the most influential road industry association in China. The Science and Technology Progress Award aims to enhance the technological innovation ability of the transportation industry, promote the scientific and healthy development of the transportation industry, promote the promotion and application of the four new technologies in the industry, and improve the industry's technological innovation ability and construction management level. The award has been reviewed and approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Science and Technology Award Office, and has been selected into the list of social science and technology awards in China, with high technical content.

The research background of this award-winning project is the unmanned digital construction project of the A9 bid section of the Hazhao Expressway of the top 100 projects in Heilongjiang Province in July 2021, which is also the first application of unmanned digital construction in alpine areas. At the construction site, there is one unmanned asphalt paver and two unmanned asphalt pavers on the Sany Road RoadTyre rollersand three unmanned tandem rollers participated in the construction, and the engineers remotely controlled the six equipment through the digital construction cloud platform throughout the whole process, and monitored the construction data and equipment operation track in real time.

The unmanned construction technology used in this project includes nearly 20 domestic leading patented technologies such as automatic driving technology of paving machine group, cooperative mobilization technology of machine group, 3D digital paving technology, dynamic obstacle avoidance technology, intelligent compaction technology, etc., relying on Beidou positioning system and intelligent sensing equipment to set parameters such as road elevation, width, rolling times, and driving trajectory according to the pre-formulated construction plan.

Compared with the manual driving construction of traditional machinery, unmanned construction operation has three major advantages.

First, the construction quality has been greatly improved

The whole construction process is supervised, data is automatically recorded, quality is evaluated online, and new digital technologies such as intelligent compaction and 3D paving are used to enrich quality control methods.

Second, save people, fuel, time and cost

Compared with traditional mechanical construction, the collaborative operation of unmanned aircraft fleet can reduce the on-site personnel input by two-thirds; Real-time management and monitoring of fuel volume and fuel consumption to achieve fuel saving and cost reduction; Equipped with a "mechanical digital construction cloud platform" to analyze the working conditions, status, duration and utilization rate of equipment, the drone swarm can be continuously constructed for more than 20 hours around the clock, improving efficiency by more than 20%.

Third, the use of digital means to make collaborative management more controllable

The application of digital means such as web pages, APP, tablets, and vehicle displays, the use of visual expressions such as histograms, support dynamic and static two ways for playback and traceability, realize the whole process of paving and rolling online, and support the collaborative management of all links.

In recent years, the CPC Central Committee and the State Council have successively issued the "Outline for the Construction of a Transportation Power" and the "National Comprehensive Three-dimensional Transportation Network Planning Outline", which have pointed out the direction for the development of transportation at present and in the future.
