With 50 units of 10MW, Xinjiang has opened a new era of large-scale wind power with large megawatts

  • 2025.03.24

A few days ago, Turpan, Xinjiang - With the precise docking of the last wind turbine impeller and the engine room, the 1 million kilowatt (500,000 kilowatt in the first phase) wind power project of Guangdong Energy Group in Xinjiang Tuoxun has been fully hoisted. The project is not only the benchmark project for the largest 10MW onshore wind turbine currently under construction in Xinjiang, but also sets a new efficiency record for the construction of onshore large-megawatt wind power projects in Xinjiang with the outstanding data of "delivery time of less than 3 months".

1. Efficient delivery sets an industry benchmark

A total of 50 Sany Renewable Energy wind turbines with a single capacity of 10MW and an impeller diameter of 230 meters have been installed in the first phase of the Tuoxun project. The project lasted less than 3 months from the shipment of the first main engine to the delivery of all 50 units, creating an "acceleration" of the delivery of projects of the same scale in China. The achievement of this milestone is due to the synergistic advantages of Sany Renewable Energy's entire industry chain: relying on the three blade production bases of Hami Balikun, Inner Mongolia Xilin Gol and Bayannur, as well as the production capacity linkage of Beijing Nankou main engine factory, the efficient supply of key equipment has been realized, which provides a replicable delivery model for the development of the "Shagehuang" large base project.

Second, the whole industry chain coordinates to ensure supply

In the face of the challenges to the supply chain caused by the large-scale development of wind power in the 14th Five-Year Plan, Sany Renewable Energy has demonstrated its strong supply guarantee capacity through a multi-base layout across the country. The core components of the 10MW unit used in the project are all independently designed and manufactured, and the key equipment such as blades and main engine are produced through the linkage production of "three places and four factories", which effectively resolves the delivery pressure of frequent extreme weather and transportation distance of more than 1,000 kilometers, and ensures that the project is carried out on schedule and with high quality. According to public statistics, the cumulative number of winning bids for Sany Renewable Energy's 10MW wind turbines has exceeded 9GW, continuing to lead the onshore large megawatt unit market.

3. Customized technology to overcome extreme environments

The Turpan Xiaocaohu Wind Area, where the Tuoxun Project is located, is known as the "China Wind Reservoir", with extreme high temperatures exceeding 45°C in summer and maximum instantaneous wind speeds of more than 50m/s throughout the year, which poses a severe test to the reliability of the unit. Sany Renewable Energy has developed customized solutions for "high temperature and wind resistance":

(1) Wind resistance upgrade: The reinforced blade structure and material technology are adopted, and the stability of the blade under the scenarios of severe turbulence and high-frequency variable wind speed is improved through aerodynamic optimization and load simulation test;

(2) High temperature tolerance guarantee: Conduct high and low temperature alternating simulation experiments on core components such as gearboxes and generators, optimize the design of heat dissipation system, and ensure the safe operation of the unit in an ultra-wide temperature range from -30 °C to 50 °C;

(3) Intelligent O&M support: Equipped with a new generation of SCADA system, it can monitor key parameters such as blade stress and bearing temperature in real time, realize fault warning and remote diagnosis, and reduce O&M risks in extreme environments.

The project is expected to be completed in late March. It is estimated that the annual power generation capacity can reach 900 million kWh, which can meet the clean electricity needs of 450,000 households and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 738,900 tons (calculated based on the carbon emission coefficient of thermal power of the National Energy Administration of 821 g/kWh). In terms of economic benefits, the project injects green kinetic energy into Xinjiang's "energy district" strategy through the advantages of high land utilization rate and low LCOE of large megawatt units, and provides an important fulcrum for Guangdong Energy Group to deepen the layout of "west-to-east power transmission".
