A few days ago, Sany Renewable Energy's 15MW wind turbine took the lead in passing the 0 voltage ride-through and 0-130% single chain fault voltage ride-through tests of China Electric Power Research Institute, becoming the first wind turbine in China to complete the fault ride-through test in accordance with the latest national standards for offshore wind power, marking that it took the lead in obtaining the "admission ticket" for offshore wind power grid connection under the new regulations, demonstrating Sany Renewable Energy's confidence and determination to enter offshore wind power and become strong in the sea.
In recent years, China's offshore wind power has developed rapidly, with its installed capacity ranking first in the world, and the development of offshore wind power has shown a deep-sea and large-scale development trend. In order to further adapt to the friendly grid connection of offshore wind power under the new situation, ensure the safe and stable operation of large-scale offshore wind power access to the power system, and support the sustainable development of offshore wind power in China, the state issued the latest version of GB/T19963 "Technical Regulations for Wind Farm Access to Power System", which clarifies the technical requirements for offshore wind power access to the power system for the first time, of which fault ride-through capability is the top priority. On April 1, 2025, the regulations will be officially implemented, becoming the "entry threshold" for offshore wind farms to connect to the grid.

What is Fault Traversal Capability? As the name suggests, it refers to the ability of wind turbines to maintain grid-connected operation and support grid recovery through active control when there is a short-term fault in the grid voltage, and assist in the recovery of grid voltage faults while avoiding the collapse of the power grid caused by a large number of equipment going off the grid.
Fault ride-through capability is a key technical indicator for wind turbines to upgrade from "grid followers" to "grid supporters". It is not only the "firewall" of grid security, but also the cornerstone of the stable operation of the power system with a high proportion of renewable energy. As the role of wind power in the energy system shifts from supplementary energy to primary energy, fault ride-through capability has become an indispensable core competitiveness. This time, Sany Renewable Energy's 15MW prototype was the first to pass the fault ride-through test, proving its excellent grid connection friendliness and adaptability.
