The Yichang-Wanzhou Railway leads from Yichang East Railway Station and crosses the Yangtze River to Wanzhou Station in Wanzhou City. The line passes through seven counties and cities (districts) of Yichang, Changyang, Badong, Jianshi, Enshi, Lichuan and Wanzhou in Hubei Province, with an operating mileage of 377 kilometers and is a Class I electrified trunk line.
The construction of the Yichang-Wanzhou railway was extremely difficult. The whole line is a high-standard trunk railway built in the difficult mountainous area with extremely complex geological conditions, and it is also the mountain railway with *8981 difficulty in the railway that has been built and is under construction in China. The bridges and tunnels on the main line of the Yichang-Wanzhou Railway account for 74% of the total length of the line, and are the world's railways*8981, known as the "Bridge and Tunnel Museum". There are 159 tunnels on the whole line, including 5 tunnels of more than 10 kilometers; There are 253 bridges, including 29 bridges with special structures and more than 600 culverts. The Yichang-Wanzhou railway project along the mountain is high and steep, the river valley is deep, the terrain is difficult, the geology is complex, the engineering is arduous, the difficulty of karst development, scale and engineering treatment is rare at home and abroad, especially the problems encountered in karst tunnels, which are recognized as world problems by domestic tunnel users and peers.
