In Kazakhstan's Mangestou Oblast, on the shores of the Caspian Sea, a wind farm carrying energy innovation is standing quietly, breathing with the sound of the tide. Recently, the UNEX 43.6 MW wind power project in Shevchenko Fort, Kazakhstan, undertaken by Sany Renewable Energy, was successfully connected to the grid at full capacity. This is not only the first application of 8.0MW platform wind turbines in Central Asia, but also the first "large instead of small" equal-capacity transformation wind power project in Central Asia, marking a historic breakthrough in China's high-end wind power equipment and green energy solutions in the Central Asian market.

The UNEX wind farm in Shevchenko Fort is located in the Tupukaragan district of Mangestou Oblast, Kazakhstan, and 24 Vestas 1.7-2 megawatt wind turbines have been in service for many years, and the power generation efficiency and stability have long been far inferior. In this transformation and upgrading, Sany Renewable Energy successfully "took over" six 8 MW wind turbines, setting a new record for the single capacity of wind power projects in Central Asia. Since then, the UNEX wind farm in Shevchenko has become the first wind power project along the "Belt and Road" Central Asia to apply 8 megawatt wind turbines, creating a new era of wind power in Central Asia.
On the basis of the total installed capacity unchanged, UNEX wind farm has reduced the number of slots by 67%, increased the diameter of the impeller to 195 meters, and the height of the hub to 110 meters, directly extending the "wind chasing tentacles" to the high-altitude areas where wind resources are more abundant, and the power generation efficiency has increased exponentially.

In order to cope with these challenges, Sany Renewable Energy has deployed a comprehensive anti-corrosion solution for wind turbines through multiple measures such as passive ventilation, media filtration, and sealing design. At the same time, the key components are made of highly corrosion-resistant materials with composite anti-corrosion coatings to further enhance the anti-corrosion performance.
"Through this 'trade-in', the annual power generation of the project is expected to increase to 140 million kWh, which will effectively alleviate the shortage of local electricity consumption, reduce the number of units from 24 to 6, double the land utilization rate, and greatly reduce the pressure of follow-up operation and maintenance." Kang Lei, project manager of UNEX Wind Farm in Sany Renewable Energy Shevchenko Fort, said in an interview.
Cross-cultural collaboration "zero accidents, zero errors"

The official commissioning of the UNEX wind power project not only provides a replicable technical path and business model for the upgrading of old wind farms in Central Asia, but also sets an exemplary model for cross-cultural collaboration in international projects.

In the face of the complex language environment of the intersection of Chinese, English and Harbin, the Sany Renewable Energy project team has compiled a trilingual operation manual with pictures and texts, so that the complex technical steps can be understood at a glance; At the same time, the standardized operation process of "gesture + on-site demonstration" was implemented to break down the teamwork barrier between China and Kazakhstan, and engineers from the two countries even formed a unique "construction site mixture", realizing a leap from "poor communication" to "understanding".
In the Caspian Sea coastal area where the project is located, the "golden window period" suitable for construction every year is extremely short, and the climate changes rapidly. Under complex coastal construction conditions, the China-Kazakhstan project team has established a full-process management mechanism from progress control, quality supervision to safety assurance, used sophisticated meteorological prediction models, formulated dynamic construction plans in hours, firmly controlled the nodes at each stage of the project, realized the efficient delivery of "starting construction in the same year, connecting to the grid in the same year", and created a model of cross-border cooperation in wind power projects.

It is reported that this cooperation case has been included in the "Global Supplier White Paper" by RMK Group, to which the project belongs, becoming a standard example for its subsequent multinational project reference, and awarded Sany Renewable Energy the title of "Best Strategic Partner in 2025". This is not only the customer's recognition of China's wind power technical strength, but also a high praise for the international project execution and management capabilities of Chinese enterprises.
Thousands of years ago, the wind blowing from the Caspian Sea witnessed the camel bells on the ancient Silk Road; Today, it is pushing the blades and turning the gears of energy cooperation in the new era. The success of the UNEX project in Shevchenko Fort is not only a "butterfly change" of a wind farm, but also a vivid practice of renewable energy cooperation under the framework of the "Belt and Road".
