In 2015, a new round of reform of China's power system was launched, and the "Several Opinions on Further Deepening the Reform of the Power System" put forward the important task of reforming the market mechanism. Some provinces, represented by Shanxi and Gansu, have started pilot electricity spot trading, and in the operation area of the State Grid, inter-provincial trading systems covering 26 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government have also begun to be built.

In 2021, the State Grid's new-generation inter-provincial trading system was initially completed. Today, nearly 2,800 inter-provincial transactions are made here every month. Shanxi Province has taken this opportunity to expand the scope of delivery, and 23 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government, including Qinghai and Tibet, have traded electricity with Shanxi.

Many enterprises need to use green electricity for carbon reduction. The trading market has set up a special green electricity transaction, which has opened up another profit space for new energy enterprises. With the expansion of the inter-provincial market, the volume of green electricity transactions is also increasing. In 2024, the company will buy 10.76 million kWh of clean energy, accounting for 72% of the total electricity consumption. This green electricity certificate from Shanxi is a proof of purchase, recording data such as electricity and source.
