Sany CRRC Tsinghua joins forces! China's first electrified highway demonstration line was built

On March 13, in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province, China's first electrified highway demonstration line jointly built by Sany Group, CRRC Zhuzhou Institute and Tsinghua University was completed and opened to traffic, successfully filling the gap in the field of electrified highways in China and opening up a new path for heavy-duty road freight in the future.

The electrified highway is a two-way, two-lane road with a width of 7 meters, and is equipped with 53 assembly pillars and a box-type substation to support its 1.8-kilometre-long contact grid. In terms of road conditions, the electrified highway covers a variety of road conditions such as ramps, uneven and convex roads, wading and immersion test areas, etc., providing rich simulation scenarios for testing vehicle performance.

This electrified highway adopts an overhead catenary method similar to rail transit, and is directly driven by the power grid above to realize the "charging while driving" of moving vehicles. According to reports, compared with pure electric heavy trucks using power batteries, the low temperature effect can be effectively avoided, and the energy utilization efficiency can be increased by more than 6%.

The project is jointly developed by Sany Group, CRRC Zhuzhou Institute and Tsinghua University, among which Sany is responsible for the vehicle development and the design, R&D and manufacturing of key systems of the project, with completely independent intellectual property rights.
