According to a report on the Financial Times website on September 24, China's largest electric truck manufacturer Sany Group said that it is targeting overseas markets and will launch a new round of challenges to the global auto industry at a time when China's high-tech, low-cost electric heavy-duty truck production is booming.
Liang Linhe, chairman of the heavy truck division of Sany Group, expects that by 2030, about half of the group's sales will come from overseas markets, a significant increase from about 10% this year.
Sany Group is a construction and mining machinery giant. Sany Group launched its electric truck business in 2021. It is expected that in 2025, the group's annual sales of electric trucks will reach about 30,000 units, mainly in the Chinese market. This year, Sany has opened an electric truck plant in South Africa, is selecting a site for a second overseas production site in Brazil, and has begun selling its products in Europe.
In contrast, outside of China, the electrification transition has been slow. According to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, the market share of electric trucks in Europe in the first half of this year was only 3.6% due to insufficient investment in charging infrastructure and power grids.
Sany Group is one of the largest construction machinery manufacturers in China, headquartered in Changsha, a city in central China. The company operates in 140 countries and is strong enough to compete with Caterpillar in the United States and Komatsu in Japan.
Liang Linhe pointed out that Sany invests about 8% of its revenue in battery production in Changsha, the national photovoltaic charging and swapping network and the research and development of autonomous driving technology every year.
"These are our core technologies, and many overseas partners have shown great interest in them, including those from the United States," he said. ”

Pay attention to Sany again!
Excerpt from the report
"A few weeks ago, my colleagues and I traveled to Changsha, the capital of Hunan province, to get a glimpse of the future of the trucking and logistics industry.
Located in a new industrial park on the outskirts of the city with a total investment of US$3 billion, Sany Group, a leading enterprise in China's construction machinery manufacturing field, is mass-producing tens of thousands of electric trucks and supporting the development and manufacturing of solar chargers based on its fully automated factorybattery swap station。
Liang Linhe said in an interview: "We clearly see that the future trend will focus on low-carbonization. "Sany is leading the transformation of China's truck industry, and its influence is expected to expand globally. It is expected that within three years, China's electric truck sales will surpass that of fuel vehicles, and local companies have deployed sales and manufacturing networks around the world.
2025 is a key year for Sany Heavy Truck to comprehensively accelerate its "industrial going overseas". The company is focusing on building "five major systems" including special organizations, teams, channels, customer and service parts networks, and is committed to creating new energy heavy truck products with global competitiveness.
Sany Heavy Truck is willing to work with global partners to jointly promote the green and intelligent transformation of the commercial vehicle industry, and help customers achieve a win-win situation of economic and environmental benefits!
