In 2023, China's green and low-carbon energy transformation will accelerate, and renewable energy will maintain a good trend of high-speed development, high proportion utilization and high-quality consumption. At the same time, the installed capacity of new energy storage is rising rapidly, and new technologies are emerging, which strongly supports the construction of new power systems. The construction of a multi-level power market has been carried out in an orderly manner, and the level of new energy consumption has been effectively improved.
The competitive advantage of wind power and photovoltaic is highlighted
The coastal city of Taizhou, Zhejiang, is abundant in wind energy. In 2023, the largest offshore wind farm in eastern Zhejiang, Yuhuan No. 2 offshore wind farm, will officially start construction. Chen Yiming, the special administrator of the Development Department of State Grid Zhejiang Taizhou Power Supply Company, introduced that the wind farm will become the world's first 220 kV flexible low-frequency technology transmission offshore wind farm, effectively improving the transmission capacity, transmission distance and transmission efficiency of the transmission line.In 2023, China's total installed capacity of renewable energy will continue to exceed 1.3 billion kilowatts and 1.4 billion kilowatts during the year, reaching 1.45 billion kilowatts, accounting for more than 50% of the country's total installed power generation capacity and historically exceeding the installed capacity of thermal power. The annual new installed capacity of wind power and photovoltaic has doubled, close to 60% of the world's new annual installed capacity. The international competitive advantage of the wind power and photovoltaic industry has been further highlighted. In 2023, the output of key components such as wind turbines will account for more than 70% of the global market, and the output of photovoltaic polysilicon, silicon wafers, cells and modules will account for more than 80% of the global output.
Driven by technological innovation, in 2023, the world's first 16 MW offshore wind turbine independently developed by China will be successfully connected to the grid for power generation, the first deep-sea floating wind power platform "CNOOC Guanlan" with an offshore depth of more than 100 kilometers and a water depth of more than 100 meters in China will be successfully put into operation, and a number of leading demonstration projects such as Sinopec's large-scale hydrogen production in Kuqa in Xinjiang and photovoltaic sand control in the Kubuqi Desert of the Three Gorges Corporation will be completed and put into operation.
Li Chuangjun, director of the Department of New and Renewable Energy of the National Energy Administration, said that China's renewable energy will maintain rapid development in 2023, which has played an important role in ensuring power supply, promoting energy transition, expanding effective investment, increasing foreign trade exports, and reducing the cost of electricity for the whole society.
New energy storage has become the key grasp
New energy has the characteristics of intermittency, volatility and randomness, and in order to achieve a high proportion of grid connection, it is necessary to improve the regulation capacity of the power system, and the development of new energy storage has become the key starting point. According to data from the National Energy Administration, by the end of 2023, the cumulative installed capacity of new energy storage projects that have been completed and put into operation across the country will reach 31.39 million kW/66.87 million kWh, with an average energy storage duration of 2.1 hours. In 2023, the new installed capacity will be about 22.6 million kW/48.7 million kWh, an increase of more than 260% from the end of 2022.
Bian Guangqi, deputy director of the Department of Energy Conservation and Science and Technology Equipment of the National Energy Administration, said that new energy storage is becoming a key technology for building a new energy system and a new power system, an important direction for cultivating emerging industries, and an important starting point for promoting the green and low-carbon transformation of energy production and consumption. Since the "14th Five-Year Plan", the new new energy storage capacity has directly promoted economic investment of more than 100 billion yuan. While the scale is growing, new energy storage technology routes are blooming. Since last year, a number of 300 MW compressed air energy storage projects, 100 MW flow battery energy storage projects, and megawatt flywheel energy storage projects have started construction, and new technologies such as gravity energy storage, liquid air energy storage, and carbon dioxide energy storage have been implemented, showing an overall trend of diversified development. The construction of new energy storage has effectively promoted the development and consumption of new energy. In recent years, new energy power generation in Anhui Province has gradually occupied half of the power supply. Zhu Concubine, director of the power dispatching and control center of the State Grid Huaibei Power Supply Company, said: "The grid-connected installed capacity of the energy storage power station in Huaibei is 161,600 kilowatts, and during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday last year, the energy storage power station in Huaibei participated in the peak regulation of the regional power grid 41 times, and consumed 3,116,800 kilowatt-hours of new energy electricity, which played an important role in the consumption of new energy electricity during the critical period." ”Bian Guangqi said that in the next step, the National Energy Administration will carry out research on relevant measures to promote the dispatch and application of new energy storage, guide the scientific use of new energy storage, and further play the role of system support and regulation.
The electricity market mechanism is constantly improving
At present, new energy has entered a stage of large-scale and high-quality development, and it is urgent to promote the green transformation of energy and power production methods through market mechanism innovation, promote the formation of a green and low-carbon lifestyle, and help achieve the "double carbon" goal.China has actively promoted the construction of a unified national electricity market system, and the amount of market-based trading has continued to rise. Liu Gang, deputy director of the Market Supervision Department of the National Energy Administration, said that last year, the national electricity market traded 5.7 trillion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 7.9%, accounting for 61.4% of the total electricity consumption of the whole society, an increase of 0.6 percentage points over the previous year."The market-oriented reform of electricity has been deepened, and the proportion of market-based electricity trading has increased from less than 17% in 2016 to more than 61% in 2023, and the market mechanism has played a decisive role in the allocation of resources." Liu Gang said.It is worth noting that the medium and long-term trading of electricity has been normalized across the country, accounting for more than 90% of the market-oriented electricity, giving full play to the role of "ballast stone" and stabilizing the overall market size and transaction price. The medium- and long-term inter-provincial and inter-regional markets have been running smoothly, and the inter-provincial spot market has adjusted the surplus and shortage, which has played a positive role in the optimal allocation of large-scale power resources. In the critical period of peak summer and winter power supply, the inter-provincial and cross-regional market-oriented trading mechanism has played a positive role in inter-provincial power support and mutual aid and supply. The power auxiliary service mechanism has an annual excavation system regulation capacity of more than 117 million kilowatts, and promotes the annual increase in clean energy power generation by more than 120 billion kilowatt hours.
