According to reports, the ranking is the sixth survey conducted by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce since 1998, the scope of the survey is the total operating income of more than 120 million yuan in 2003 private enterprises, the main content includes the business situation, enterprise investment and financing intentions, enterprise management and technological innovation needs, etc., and the main issues affecting the development of private enterprises were investigated.

The results show that in 2003, the number of large-scale private enterprises in China increased significantly, and the differences in industry and regional distribution were obvious, with the total operating income of large-scale private enterprises being 1,522.54 billion yuan, and there were 46 enterprises with total revenue of more than 5 billion yuan, indicating that the economic benefits of private enterprises were greatly improved. In addition, the total assets of the enterprise were 1,385.16 billion yuan, and the total net assets were 543.13 billion yuan.

There are 2,268 enterprises participating in the survey, an increase of 686 over 2002, an increase of 43% year-on-year, especially a number of state-owned enterprises have been restructured and reorganized, and they have also joined the ranks of private enterprise research.

According to the survey, large-scale private enterprises are mainly distributed in eastern regions such as Jiangsu and Zhejiang, while the number of enterprises in the central and western regions accounts for only 22%. Among them, the top five provinces and cities in terms of the number of enterprises are Zhejiang Province (33%), Jiangsu Province (21%), Shandong Province (9%), Shanghai (6%) and Anhui Province (5%). As a central province, Hunan has 6 private enterprises on the list. In response to this situation, some private enterprises in our province have begun to actively seek breakthroughs.
