The core technology and key components must rely on themselves
In 1995, Yi Xiaogang came to Sany Group from a scientific research institute, and the first product developed was concrete machinery. "Core technology and key components can't be bought." Yi Xiaogang said with deep feelings. For more than 20 years, as the core figure of technological innovation of Sany Group, Yi Xiaogang has led the team to break through the obstacles in the fields of concrete high-pressure pumping, ultra-long boom design, and core hydraulic components of construction machinery, and won 2 second prizes of the National Technological Invention Award and 1 second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
Today, through independent R&D and collaborative innovation, Sany Group's special chassis, engine, controller, cylinder and other key components have independent intellectual property rights and production capacity, and the sales volume of concrete machinery and other products ranks first in the world.
What no one else has done, we can do
In 2019, Yi Xiaogang shouldered the important task of upgrading and transforming Sany Group's intelligent manufacturing factory. In the construction machinery production workshop, the automation and intelligence of blanking, machining and painting are easy to achieve, but it is a great challenge to make the huge and bulky structural parts automatically assemble and weld.
Yi Xiaogang said: "We can also do what we have not done abroad and what others have not done, and we must break fear and innovate boldly." ”
He took the engineers of the Sany Group Research Institute to start tackling key problems. Every morning, the first thing he does when he arrives at the office is to turn on the computer and review the surveillance video of the previous night's test, find out the existing problems, and then modify the technical solution with the engineer.
The position error of the group welding is required to be less than or equal to 0.1 mm. For a long time, the error always oscillated between 0.4 and 0.5 mm, and I found several third-party agencies, but I couldn't meet the requirements. Yi Xiaogang and the R&D team boldly abandoned the conventional practice of judging the location only by visual recognition, and finally solved the problem.

In September 2020, the "No. 18 Workshop" of Sany Intelligent Manufacturing Demonstration Workshop was fully upgraded, and more than 100 industrial robots realized automatic cutting, sorting and welding. In September this year, Sany Beijing Pile Driver Factory became the first certified lighthouse factory in the global heavy industry industry.
Only by continuous innovation will we not be eliminated
In 2021, Yi Xiaogang led the team to enter the field of new energy technology. In the context of the "double carbon" goal, new energy equipment is the future development direction.
In Yi Xiaogang's view, engineers will not be eliminated only if they constantly track cutting-edge technologies, constantly adapt to the needs of enterprises, and constantly update their knowledge system.
"I originally studied mechanics, and later I learned a little bit about computers, but it wasn't enough." Yi Xiaogang said that in the past, engineers only needed to draw drawings and write process cards, but now engineers need to understand machine language and be able to "communicate" with machines, which is a new challenge.
Yi Xiaogang is learning every day and keeping abreast of the dynamics of related fields. Even when interviewing R&D personnel, he takes the opportunity to exchange knowledge about emerging technologies with young people.
