Recently, the World Economic Forum released the latest list of light-tower factories, and twenty-one excellent factories have emerged from thousands of entrants around the world, nearly half (ten) of which are located in China. After this expansion, China's lighthouse factories have increased to 30, accounting for 30% of the global lighthouse network, and the growth momentum is rapid.
What is a light tower factory? It is regarded as the leader of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and a representative of digital manufacturing and Industry 4.0, and can be seen to some extent as having world-class manufacturing capabilities. The lighthouse plant needs to meet four major criteria: first, achieve significant impact; 2. Successful integration of multiple use cases; 3. Have a technology platform that can be expanded; Fourth, it has shown superiority among the key driving factors.
The experience of the light tower factory can be a guiding light for manufacturing companies, showing how to extract new value from digitalization, including significantly increasing resource productivity, increasing agility and responsiveness, accelerating new product launches, and increasing customization.
In recent years, China has vigorously promoted intelligent manufacturing, built intelligent factories and smart industrial chains, and continuously improved the level of digitalization, networking, and intelligence in the manufacturing industry. Statistics show that at present, China has built more than 600 intelligent factories with advanced standards, and the penetration rate of enterprise digital R&D design tools and the digital control rate of key processes have reached 73.5 percent and 52.4 percent respectively.
