In an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency on June 30, Malawi President Chakwera said that the deepening of economic and trade cooperation between Malaysia and China will help Malawi achieve independent and sustainable development and follow a development path suitable for its own country like China.
Chakwera told reporters that the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, as an important platform for in-depth cooperation between China and Africa, allows Malaysia and China to establish ties "between people, between industries, and between countries".
From June 29th to July 2nd, the 3rd China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo was held in Changsha, and Malawi, located in the interior of Southeast Africa, was one of the guest of honor at the Expo. In his speech at the opening ceremony, Chakwera said that the China-Africa cooperative partnership has yielded fruitful results, and the achievements of China-Africa cooperation will "grow exponentially" in the future, helping to build a China-Africa community with a shared future.

The trip was Chakwera's first visit to China since winning the election in June 2020 to become president. "I'm so impressed with everything about it, I love the food, the scenery, the skyscrapers, the international scene, and the greenery everywhere." He said.
When it comes to Chinese modernization, Chakwera feels the most about China's green development. "China has found a green development path that can effectively protect the environment, and Malawi wants to achieve green development, and we can learn a lot from China in this regard."
