However, with the continuous increase in the development of clean energy in China, the good scenery resources and vast land in the Shage Desert area have radiated new value, and the Shage Desert has also become a hot spot for many energy development enterprises. Since 2021, when the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and the National Energy Administration (NEA) issued the Notice on the List of the First Batch of Large-scale Wind Power and Photovoltaic Base Construction Projects Focusing on Deserts and Gobi Desert Areas, various localities have actively promoted the development of Shagehuang projects. Due to its special environmental characteristics, how to make good use of resource advantages, how to maximize project investment returns, and how to deal with harsh natural conditions have become the three major topics faced by the industry. Sany Renewable Energy participated in the construction of SDIC Beidaqiao No. 7 Wind Farm Project, which is one of the earliest wind power projects in the country to be connected to the grid, from unit research and development, to wind farm design, from transportation and hoisting, to technical transformation and adaptation, after a year of stable operation, the project has accumulated a lot of valuable experience, and can finally be shared with the industry.




SDIC Beidaqiao No. 7 Wind Farm is located in Guazhou County, Jiuquan City, Gansu Province, which is the country's first onshore commercial wind power project above 6MW, with a total installed capacity of 400MW in Area A and Area B, and a total of 64 Sany Renewable Energy units have been installedSI-172625Wind turbines, all adopt the box transformer upper scheme. It is located in the Hexi Corridor and is a typical Gobi landform. Sany Renewable Energy Wind Turbines have well adapted to the environment of Shage Desert and withstood the rigorous test, which has also taken a step forward for the whole industry to apply large megawatt units in the future Shage Desert scenario.




In 2021, when the industry was generally hoisting wind turbines below 5MW, Sany Renewable Energy won the bid for the SDIC North Bridge project, using 6.25MW units, which was a step ahead for the industry in the application of large megawatt units in the Shage Desert scenario. The unit has three main advantages:


1. Large megawatt and low cost: Sany Renewable Energy can reduce the number of wind turbines, improve land use rate and reduce operation and maintenance costs by using high-power high-power large megawatt wind turbines, thereby reducing the unit kilowatt cost and effectively increasing the profitability and anti-risk ability of the project. In addition, the unit adopts the upper scheme of the box transformer, which can not only avoid the damage to the box transformer such as dust, heavy snow, hail and flood, but also save cables, reduce line loss, reduce land occupation, ensure reliability and reduce costs.


2. All-round, guaranteed power generation: Sany Renewable Energy integrates multidisciplinary cutting-edge technologies such as intelligent control, predictive control, optimal control, and expert system to create intelligent fans. In terms of blades, Sany Renewable Energy optimizes the design of wind energy utilization to ensure that the functional capacity of the unit is higher than that of the same type of unit in the low wind speed stage, so as to fully guarantee the power generation efficiency.


3. Sand and dust prevention, high stability: For the Shagehuang wind power project, a major problem is the sand and dust prevention of the unit. Through years of experience in wind farm development, Sany Renewable Energy has realized the system-wide anti-sand and dust design by coating the blades with polyurethane coating of highly weather-resistant materials, designing the nacelle seal, installing dust-proof filters, and using labyrinth seals or brush seals at the joints of various components to ensure that the unit has good sand-proof capabilities. In addition, Sany Renewable Energy has also improved the high temperature and low temperature resistance of the unit in view of the problems of high sun intensity and low winter temperature in the Shage Desert environment, so as to ensure the stable operation and efficient power generation of the unit in the Shage Desert environment.



After a year of stable operation, the Beidaqiao project has delivered a satisfactory answer, with the unit availability rate of 99.47% in Area A and 99.82% since June 2022 in Area B. Not only have the units withstood the test, but the intelligent operation and maintenance and service teams of the wind farm have also accumulated rich experience.


Sany Renewable Energy independently developed an early warning model analysis based on 3D terrain, calculated and analyzed the operation and maintenance window from the three major sections of large component failure warning, wind turbine safety protection, and power generation performance improvement, combined with terrain and meteorological factors, and carried out predictive operation and maintenance management of wind farms. Sany Renewable Energy's service team provides "butler-style" on-site services, responds quickly to problems, and cleans the dust-proof filter screen at high frequency for the Shagehuang project unit to ensure the reliable operation of the unit.



Recently, Sany Renewable Energy and Gansu New Energy Co., Ltd. jointly held the "China's first onshore commercial wind power project observation activity above 6MW" in the seventh wind farm of SDIC Beidaqiao, inviting nearly 100 people, including Guazhou County People's Government, customer representatives, and industry experts, to visit the inside of the wind turbine tower, the wind farm booster station and the central control room, and intuitively understand the operation mode of smart wind turbines and smart wind farms.



In the afternoon of the same day, the "Shagehuang Wind Turbine Technology Prospect Forum" was also held. Pan Yang, member of the Standing Committee of the Guazhou County Party Committee and deputy county magistrate, Li Qiang, general manager of SDIC New Energy Investment Co., Ltd., Wu Chunchao, general manager of SDIC Gansu New Energy Co., Ltd., Liu Weifang, senior consultant of the Wind Energy Special Committee of the Chinese Renewable Energy Society, Ren Xuechuan, deputy general manager of Sany Renewable Energy business, Yang Zhiguo, director of Sany Renewable Energy Service Company, leaders of Guazhou County People's Government and representatives of SDIC Power, State Power Investment, Huadian Group, Datang Group and other units attended the meeting.



At the forum, Zhao Guobin, General Manager of DNV Renewable Energy Certification China, issued the DNV design certification for Sany Renewable Energy's SI-172625 unit, which represents the recognition of the unit in the international market. SDIC New Energy experts and Sany Renewable Energy technical experts jointly gave a lecture on the topic of "Application of Large MW Wind Turbines in Shagehuang" from the perspectives of technology, application, operation and maintenance, and shared Sany Renewable Energy's exploration of Shagehuang to the industry.
