Yu Tianyu, marketing department of Shanghai Sany Technology Co., Ltd., told reporters that the rescue mission of the trapped miners in Chile was the Sany SCC4000 crawler crane, designed and produced by Shanghai Sany Technology Co., Ltd., officially off the assembly line in 2006, known as "Shenzhou * 5656 crane", has won the gold medal of the Shanghai Science and Technology Expo, and is at the world's leading level in electronic control, force limit system, hydraulic devices, etc. It has a lifting capacity of 400 tons, and it is the crawler crane with a tonnage of 5655 that China has exported to South America so far.

Yu Tianyu revealed that in Chile, there are less than 10 large-tonnage crawler cranes with a lifting capacity of more than 400 tons, and Sany SCC4000 crawler cranes were purchased in 2008 and officially put into use in 2009.

According to the person in charge of the Chilean project of Shanghai Sany Technology Co., Ltd., before participating in the rescue mission, this type of crane made in China competed with 400-ton crawler cranes of international well-known brands such as Liebherr and Manitowoc, and the Chilean government finally chose the crawler crane produced by Sany Technology Company.

The Chilean mining disaster occurred in a desert area, and the on-site rescue environment was harsh. It is understood that the rescue site will open up a rescue channel nearly 700 meters deep, and Sany Crane is first responsible for the task of laying the inner wall in the rescue channel. After the inner wall is laid, the "rescue capsule" (that is, the carrying cabin for saving people) can safely go deep into the underground to carry out rescue work.

In fact, there is a precedent for "Shenzhou*5656 Crane" to participate in international rescue. In July 2007, a 6,000-tonne ferry ran aground on the beach in Northern Ireland en route to the British port of Heysham. Subsequently, Anderson Crane Leasing in the United Kingdom used a Sany SCC500 crawler crane to participate in the rescue, hoisting cars, trucks and containers that had been tilted to the starboard side of the ship.
