Sinopec Exploration Branch completed the first shale gas horizontal well without a pilot hole well

On September 13, Sinopec Exploration Branch's first deep shale gas exploration well, Dingye 9, was drilled with high quality without drilling a pilot hole well and directly implementing horizontal wells.

Well Dingye 9 is a pre-exploration well deployed in the Dingshan structure in southeast Sichuan. In order to improve work efficiency and reduce costs, the well was directly drilled in horizontal wells according to the requirements of exploration and development integration, with a drilling depth of 5,516 meters and a horizontal section length of 1,500 meters.

The horizontal section of the well was drilled using the steering and gamma imaging tools for well trajectory control, and it took 6 days to complete the flat section drilling with high quality and efficiency, and the drilling rate of high-quality shale was 100%, and the gas measurement showed that it was good.
