At about 7 o'clock in the morning, the two crawler cranes were like two "Hercules", and the cutterhead of the shield machine with a weight of 613 tons moved slowly to carry out the final commissioning work before lifting. After a series of operations such as lifting, turning over, and rotating, at 1:30 p.m., the cutterhead of the "Donghu" shield machine was safely and accurately hoisted to the underground for installation.

It is understood that the "East Lake" shield machine is a domestic super-large diameter slurry-water gas balance shield machine tailored for the Lianghu Tunnel Project. The total length of the whole machine is about 115 meters, the weight is about 3,590 tons, and the excavation diameter is 15.094 meters. The cutterhead of the shield machine was the last large component required in the assembly process of the "Donghu". The cutterhead was coated with the pattern of "dragon carp entering Han", hoping that the "Donghu" shield machine would be smooth and successful in tunneling.

"The cutterhead going down the well is the most difficult and dangerous process in the assembly process of the shield machine." The relevant person in charge of the project said that in order to ensure the safety and smoothness of the cutterhead hoisting operation, the project participating units carefully organized, planned in advance, formulated a special construction plan, and designated Sany Crane to complete the cutterhead sinking task.

After the cutterhead positioning and installation, the "East Lake" shield machine will carry out follow-up work such as pipeline connection and commissioning, and is scheduled to officially start at the end of June, excavating all the way to the north, crossing the East Lake, and reaching the Bo work well in Hubei Province.

As the world's largest double-layer super-large diameter tunnel at the bottom of the urban lake, the Lianghu Tunnel is a key municipal project in Wuhan and a major livelihood project benefiting thousands of households in Wuhan.

After the completion of the project, a north-south expressway will be formed in the Wuchang area to alleviate the traffic pressure on the Second Ring Road, Luoshi South Road, Guohu Tunnel and other roads, and continuously improve the regional road network system to facilitate the travel of residents in the surrounding areas.
