Wang Jinxia, an analyst of the excavator index: due to the improvement of the epidemic prevention and control situation, including the intensive introduction of investment policies in some countries, the operating rate of construction machinery continues to increase, reflecting the continuous recovery of large-scale engineering construction projects and the continuous release of demand.

In the background of this screen, more than 700,000 sets of various construction machinery and equipment form a huge data management platform. Each bright spot represents a piece of mechanical equipment, and no matter which piece of equipment, every wave of a shovel or a step of action will form a trace of data, thus drawing a real-time infrastructure map.

Among all construction machinery, the number of excavator equipment is the largest, with nearly 300,000 units, and the cumulative working hours of each month from March to May are about 40 million hours, which is the highest point in three years, which shows that many engineering projects are in the early stage of groundbreaking, and the demand for construction is being released one after another.

In terms of sub-regions, most of the places where construction is more active are concentrated in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Hainan Free Trade Zone and the Northwest Region. In terms of provinces and cities, Anhui, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Hainan, Fujian and other provinces have achieved an operating rate of more than 70%, with a high degree of activity.

Sheng Lei, deputy director of the Investment Research Institute of the China Academy of Macroeconomics: At present, all localities and departments are speeding up the start of construction of major projects, speeding up the issuance and use of local government special bonds, actively leveraging and guiding social investment, and further launching projects that are conducive to making up for shortcomings and adjusting the structure, and can also drive consumption and expand employment, so as to play a key role in effective investment.

Also eye-catching is the reach stacker. It is a kind of lifting equipment for loading and unloading containers, and is closely related to import and export trade.

This is the monthly workload trend of the reach stacker this year, of which, the May has picked up significantly, second only to the level of January this year in the past three years. In the first five months, the reach stacker ranked first in the cumulative total workload of various types of machinery and equipment with a year-on-year growth rate of 13.74%, which also confirmed that China's foreign trade continued to maintain a stable growth momentum.

Wang Jinxia, excavator index analyst: The resilience and vitality of import and export trade are also gradually strengthening. From the perspective of our analysis of the trend of data, this area should continue to improve and grow steadily in the future.

Through the "Excavator Index", we can also see the latest progress of construction in various places. In May, the construction of key projects in many places has run out of "acceleration".

Speed! Driven by a series of measures to stabilize investment, the progress of infrastructure construction in many regions in China has been significantly accelerated.

In Inner Mongolia, various engineering projects are in full swing. In May, the average workload of trailer pumps, truck cranes, and piling equipment ranked first in the country year-on-year. Just a few days ago, Inner Mongolia further clarified that whether it is a key highway project, a rural and pastoral road, or the reconstruction of dangerous bridges, there will be varying degrees of increase this year.

In Ningxia, the second batch of 886 major projects this year has pressed the "start button", which directly drove Ningxia's average operation volume of crawler cranes and road rollers in May to rank first in the country.

Shanghai: The operating rate of various construction machinery increased steadily month-on-month

Recovery! In Shanghai, the excavator index implies a key word, that is, recovery. According to the data, in May, the operating rate of various construction machinery in Shanghai increased steadily month-on-month, the average operation volume of reach stackers and forklifts increased by more than 25% month-on-month, and the concrete batching plant increased by 295.5% month-on-month. This means that Shanghai is actively promoting the construction of the project, and the signs of economic and social recovery are becoming more and more prominent.

Infrastructure investment accelerates project construction

From a national perspective, infrastructure investment in the first five months increased by 6.7% year-on-year, and the number of new projects and the total planned investment in new projects increased by more than 20% year-on-year.
