On July 26, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Croatia, under the joint witness of Croatian President Milanovic, Croatian Prime Minister Plenkovic and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, a grand ceremony was held for the opening of the Pelješac Bridge, announcing the successful completion of the century bridge, which took 36 months to build, and the 30-year-old wish of the Croatian nation was finally realized.

Peljesac Bridge is jointly promoted by the prime ministers of China and Croatia, with a total length of 2,440 meters, across the Adriatic Sea, the Peljesac Peninsula, integrating Croatia's European continent and the Peljesac Peninsula, which is not only the largest transportation infrastructure project since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Croatia, but also the largest strategic infrastructure project and "national dream" since Croatia's independence.

On July 26, with the opening of the bridge, countless Croatians took to the bridge to celebrate. With the help of China's large-scale equipment, Chinese builders built this majestic project in more than three years.

The Pelješac Bridge achieves a lot of things that have not been tried in Croatian history.

The steel structure of the bridge weighs about 35,000 tons, which is equivalent to five Eiffel Towers. Combined with the weight of the underwater part, the weight of the entire bridge is about 250,000 tons. It can be said that this is the largest transportation facility that Sany Equipment has participated in the construction of in the EU.

When Chinese experts and Sany Equipment moved into the construction site in early 2019, no one believed that the bridge would be built in more than three years.

Deng Haijun, chairman of Sany Europe, introduced that the concrete pouring of the project uses super-strength and high-grade marine concrete, which is extremely difficult to pump and transport. Therefore, the construction party chose the best performance of the three large displacement trailer pump, as well as Putzmeister's latest Euro VI. power environmental mixer truck. The excavators and other equipment involved in the construction are also products developed and produced by Sany in accordance with the latest EU standards.

In addition, in order to ensure the smooth progress of the project, Sany also provided a professional team to the site to provide all-round technical guidance and all-weather services, which was unanimously recognized by the contractor China Communications Construction, China Communications Second Public Bureau and other units, and won a number of honorary certificates.

It was a demonstration of Chinese technology that had never been seen before in Europe: it was impossible to imagine such a civil engineering project on a seabed covered with sediment. Under the bridge, which is less than 2.5 kilometers long, about 70,000 tons of steel and 70,000 square meters of concrete have been laid.
