Overseas sales of excavators hit a new high

Generally speaking, June to August is the traditional off-season for the construction machinery industry, and this year is a little different. Although the sales of domestic construction machinery are relatively sluggish, the sales in overseas markets are very hot.

Huang Dong, director of the international business department of Sany Logistics, said that in the first half of this year, Sany's entire exports rose sharply. Especially in the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia, it has doubled, and Europe and the United States are still facing shortages. It took us just four months to set a half-year all-time high.

According to data from the China Construction Machinery Industry Association, in the first half of 2022, China's construction machinery export trade volume was 20.391 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 25%, and the monthly export volume was at the highest level in history in the same month.

At the end of this year, the construction machinery industry will usher in a critical period of switching from the national three to the national four emission standards, so domestic construction machinery companies are catching up with overseas orders at the same time, and have made efforts to develop electrified products.

The relevant person in charge of Hunan Dachi, an agent of Sany, said that last year we basically did not sell electric equipment, and this year, the sales of the entire electric equipment accounted for nearly 20%, especially 12 tons and 50 tons of electriccraneAt the moment it is in short supply.

With the continuous advancement of the electrification of construction machinery and the gradual maturity of battery, motor, electronic control and other technologies, major construction machinery enterprises have increased investment in battery charging, operation duration, operation efficiency and other aspects.

Sun Chunhua, director of the Product Planning and Solution Center of Sany Group's R&D Management Headquarters, said that Sany's investment in electrification, from the perspective of capital investment, has more than doubled in the first half of this year compared with the same period; From the perspective of personnel structure, the number of people engaged in electrification development has increased from nearly 1,000 last year to more than 2,600, and it is expected that by the end of this year, more than 50% of the group's R&D personnel will be engaged in electrification R&D business; In terms of products, more than 60 electrification products have been launched, and nearly 130 projects are under development, more than double the number of the same period last year.

The industry said that although the electrification of construction machinery is the general trend, but the current penetration rate in China is still low, with reference to the explosive growth of new energy passenger vehicles, the penetration rate of electric construction machinery is expected to increase rapidly in the next three years.
