The foundation project of the National Stadium requires more than 1,800 foundation piles

At the end of 2003, China's piling machinery and equipment, with Sany rotary drilling rig as *8983, entered the Bird's Nest pile foundation site, opening the historical prelude to this great building. The foundation project of the National Stadium is a raft-pile foundation combined foundation, and about 2m below the surface is artificial accumulation soil; 2-12 meters is the Quaternary cohesive soil and silt layer, and there is a silt layer between the layers; 12-16 meters is a fine sand layer; 16-36 meters is cohesive soil and silt layer, and there are discontinuous distribution of sand layer lenses between layers; 36-60 meters for pebble layer, sand layer, a total of more than 1,800 foundation piles. The characteristics and difficulties of deep foundation pile lie in solving the premise of large length of empty drilling, ensuring that the verticality deviation and positioning deviation of the pile body and the quality of the pile meet the design requirements during construction.
