Party and state leaders Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Liu Yunshan and Zhang Gaoli attended the conference and presented awards to the winning representatives. The "Key Technology and Application of Large Tonnage Series Crawler Crane" declared by Sany Heavy Industry, a leading enterprise in the construction machinery industry, won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award.
According to public information, this is the third time that Sany Heavy Industry has won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award. Previously, Sany Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. won the award twice for "research, development and application of key technologies for concrete pumping" and "construction of construction machinery technology innovation platform". In addition, Sany Heavy Industry's ultra-long boom technology also won the second prize of the 2012 National Technological Invention Award.
It is understood that in 2003, Sany entered the field of crawler cranes, when foreign brands monopolized the Chinese construction machinery market, and all large-tonnage crawler cranes relied on imports. In such an environment, Sany resolutely raised the banner of revitalizing the national industry. Before Sany entered the industry, the tonnage of domestic crawler cranes *5655 was only 150 tons. Sany took the lead in realizing the production line of 400 tons, 600 tons, 900 tons and 1600 tons of products.
In October 2010, the SCC4000 crawler crane, known as "Shenzhou*5656 crane", was selected to participate in the Chilean mine disaster rescue and successfully completed the task, interpreting the new meaning of "Made in China" to the world.
In June 2011, the Sany 3600-ton crawler crane, known as the "world's * 5656 crane", rolled off the assembly line, setting a new world record. The product is independently developed by Sany Heavy Industry, adopts the most advanced limit state design method, digital prototype and Top Down design methods, and has applied for 30 invention patents.
In 2012, Sany Heavy Industry alone had a market share of 11% in the United States, entering the top three. At the same time, the 1,600-ton crawler crane produced by Sany successfully completed the lifting task of the nuclear island dome of Unit 2 weighing 267 tons of Guangdong Taishan Nuclear Power Plant, and achieved the feat of successfully hoisting the nuclear island dome for the 17th time of the 3,100-ton crawler crane.
In 2013, Sany Heavy Industry's SCC36000A-type 3600-ton crawler crane officially obtained the "Special Equipment Type Test Certificate" and "Special Equipment Manufacturing License". The acquisition of the two certificates marks that SCC36000A has become a certified crawler crane with a global capacity of 5655 tonnage that can be sold to the outside world.
In the past 10 years, Sany Heavy Industry has guided the development of the industry and continuously promoted the technological progress of domestic crawler cranes. Sany not only uses its own strength to drive the industry forward, but also fills a number of domestic technical gaps while completing the company's own product upgrades, and changes the world image of "Made in China".

At present, Sany has broken the monopoly of foreign brands in the field of crawler cranes. According to the data of the industry association, in recent years, as the leading player in the industry, the sales and export volume of Sany crawler cranes have always been stable in the domestic *5656 front.
